Recommended image sizes
| Where it is used | Size (px) |
|---|---|
| Images in WordPress posts | 1200-1600 wide |
| Featured image (Open Graph) | 1200 × 630 |
| Product photos on Amazon, Shopify, Etsy | 1000 × 1000 or larger (square) |
| Facebook posts | 1080-2048 wide |
| Instagram posts | 1080 × 1080 or 1080 × 1350 |
How is resizing different from compression?
Resizing changes the number of pixels (width × height). Compression keeps the dimensions but stores the data more compactly. Phone photos are often 4000px wide while a website only shows about 1200px, so resizing first and then compressing saves the most space.
Frequently asked questions
Will resizing distort my image?
No. The tool always keeps the aspect ratio, so you only need to enter one side (width or height).
Can I enlarge small images?
By default the tool does not enlarge images that are smaller than the target size, to avoid blurry results. You can turn this option off if needed.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser. Your photos never leave your device, even when you process hundreds of files.
