How to remove a background
- Add photos: drag and drop, pick from your device or paste with Ctrl+V. Add several photos at once and the tool cuts them out one by one.
- Choose an AI model: General for products, objects and pets; Portrait for photos of people. The first time, your browser downloads the model, then reuses it instantly.
- Pick a new background: transparent, a color (white for product photos, blue for ID photos), Studio (a soft gradient like a photo studio), another photo, or blur the original background like a portrait shot.
- Add a shadow and frame: choose a Ground shadow, Drop shadow or Reflection so products look real, and a 1:1 frame for Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, or 4:5, 3:4, 16:9.
- Fix any rough spots with the Keep and Erase brushes, and turn on Crop to subject for a tight result.
- Download one photo or the whole set in a ZIP file, as PNG, WebP or JPG.
Which model should I use?
| Model | Download size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| General | 44 MB | Products, objects, pets, logos and simple photos of people. Runs on the graphics card, so it is very fast. |
| Portrait | 26 MB | Photos of people: keeps hair, clothes and the whole body, with fewer leftover background patches. A few seconds per photo. Not for photos without people. |
Switching models re-processes the current photo right away. For other photos, click Redo this photo when needed.
Which photos give the best results?
| Photo type | Result | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Products, objects | Excellent | Clear subject, separated from the background. Turn on Crop to subject for listing photos. |
| Portraits | Good | Choose the Portrait model. Messy hair may keep a few strands of background, use the Erase or Keep brush to fix it. |
| Pets | Good | Use the General model. Fluffy fur may need a little brush work. |
| Several subjects, busy background | Fair | AI may keep extra objects by mistake. Brush over them with Erase. |
In browsers with WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge), AI runs on the graphics card and is many times faster. Devices without WebGPU still work, just more slowly.

Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser. Your photos never leave your device, even when you process hundreds of files.
Is background removal free? Is there a limit?
It is free, needs no sign-up and has no limit on the number of photos. Downloads keep the original resolution and have no watermark.
Why do I have to wait the first time?
Background removal AI runs on your device, so the browser needs to download the model once (44 MB for General, 26 MB for Portrait). After that, the model is loaded from the browser cache.
How do I make product photos for Shopee, Lazada or Amazon?
Choose the White studio background or another Studio preset, add a Ground shadow for products that sit on a surface, then choose the 1:1 frame. The product is centered in a square frame, and Padding around subject sets the space around it. Settings apply to every photo, so you can download the whole set as one ZIP.
Which format keeps the transparent background?
Choose PNG or WebP. JPG does not support transparency, so the background will be filled with white.
How do I fix spots the AI got wrong?
Use the Keep brush to paint over areas that were removed by mistake (shown in red), or the Erase brush to paint over leftover background. You can undo each stroke or go back to the original AI result.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Phones run AI more slowly than computers and each photo may take a few dozen seconds, so process a few photos at a time.
